I've been meaning to write a database using Open Office but I couldn't figure out
how to create the proper forms for it with the interface. And this isn't something you
can model effectively with a spread sheet given that there is a one to many relationship
between days and number of items and services I spent the money on.
Which means.... I wrote a python program to tally up my records of spending.
So far this month has been a bit bizarre with the purchase of a hard drive and the depositing
of 200 or so dollars in coinage (not recorded) so it really still balances out even though I show
a deficit of 200 dollars.
The point being I'm figuring out if I really do break even as I've suspected.
I'm going about this month spending money the way I have been in a sort of a
mishap manner in an attempt to see just how off I am. And what decisions I need
to change in order to bring everything under control.
I've also been recording the prices of various food stuffs
from around town to build a comparison chart. I find out things like
a Rico's burrito is an 87 cent difference from a personal pan pizza from Round Table.
Or that buying a Philly Cheese steak and eating chicken fingers at a nice diner
are equivalent. ( I may as well go relax in a diner setting if it costs the same)
Or splitting a Rico's burrito is equivalent to soup.
$0.28 A & W Root beer $0.50 Ramen (2 packs) $2.80 1 slice of Cupboard Pizza $3.50 Hardy filling Soup $5.53 Depo Sandwich $6.53 Rico's Super Chicken Burrito * very filling, sometimes I make 2 meals out of it (6.53/2 = 3.27 ) $7.18 Philly Cheese Steak $7.39 Chicken Strips at the Pantry $7.40 Personal Pan Pizza Round Table
* I have yet to weigh ($/gram) and count Calories ($/Cal)
While I agree those aren't the best measures of overall food quality they are
measures of 'if I'm staying alive or not'
