Significant Footstep

IN all honesty I'm sitting here trying to figure out how
to make this post even mildly human readable for those
uninitiated to the world of my mind.

I'm about to try a lot less harder in the following paragraphs
so if you must get on with your life just consume these
first few paragraphs and than fade out your brainwaves while
letting the pretty geometric pictures settle into your
subconscious.

I long time ago I thought up an algorithm that could take
a design file for an object and figure out exactly how to
assembly that object. This recipe for making things
spent it's days reclining in the gentle
comfort of a comfy text file.

Until now.

You see I took my algorithm and implemented it
in a sample program using a sample grid of squares.
And so my program shows how to assemble the test object
and in theory a whole lot more complicated shapes and assemblies
should be possible.

error
Error.

correct
Correct.

It was rather difficult to get all the little kinks worked
out of this program. In fact, it took a night longer than I
hoped it would. It shows me how much more lovely an idea is
in my head. But alas, I managed to prove the concept.

Can you tell the difference between Error Image and Correct Image?
In the Error image the squares overlap each other.

I was walking through a hallway when the solution to this
error hit me. After a quick clack session
I had a working proof of concept animating before my eyes.

A smile was pinned to my face as I sat back and laughed.
This was it.
This was the first solid demonstration of the conept I had
been daydreaming of for so long. It was a significant footstep
on the road to realizing everything.

start
We start with what we want to make.

And by disassembling the parts I can figure out how to
build the object. I simply replay the actions that I used to
take it apart! I made a movie of the program and played it
in reverse. I watched as all the squares came together to
build the form.

Now you may think a 2D proof of concept doesn't do much.
But the truth is adding antoher dimension is child's play.
The trick will be sorting out how best to pull this feat
off with irregular and connected mechanical linkages.

And one step more would be to prove some
universal theorem regarding it.

And as always, here is a miscellaneous photo.

It’s downright mean to post a little quicktime movie screen without actually making it clickable.

I WANT TO SEE YOUR BRAIN.

  • It’s much better than “Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C:\xampp\htdocs\hardins\bootstrap.inc on line 43″

hey bro, i kinda get it, but would love to see some code if possible, reverse engineering is keen, but direct engineering…. well, i guess it could be improved from rev eng
