I bought this IC while picking up some more parts from Radio Shack the other day. I thought the chip measured light frequency... I read the package wrong. Apparently, it just measures intensity. (Which would explain why the price was so low)

At least it's a good example of what's inside those little black boxes you
see on electronic circuit boards. I think I'll use it to show people.
