Contemplation and Learning

A failed caustic attempt. But it fails in a lovely way.
I think it's time I sit down and take a hard look
at what I keep imagining and how I might go about making
the things I keep imagining.
Not sure why I've been so lazy about doing that and so
willing to go off on tangents to make little things here
and there.
I now know how to use servos, steppers, DC motors with my
control boards. I may not know the details of the design of
the boards but I have a relatively fair understanding of the
specs and can find out what I need to know as well as
handle designing systems together.
While I turned away from making videos for a good while.
(Halt the Superficial) I felt I was wasting too
much of my time trying to make videos that didn't have the impact
I'd like them to. So I decided to turn away from it all and simply
build my skills. This brought me through all the robotics and coding
stuff which I refocused on. And then to the ray tracer study I've been
attempting this month. I had dubbed it Ray Tracer Month despite the fact
it will most likely run into June a good ways. And then after
all my skills are built up with this I'll be handling the Physical
Computing course planning in time to put a proposal through for
the Fall 2009. If I stay on course it all just might happen.
My wordpress skills increased as I began to redesign my
site and have begun to lesson the grip pure text has on
my journal. You see, I moved away from keeping my journal in any
special format because they have failed me over the years.
glitches would destroy images and my journals would suffer for it.
So I moved to plain text and have been typing html directly into
a plain text file for years...
Until more recently I began to rethink my decision.
The reason I had parked my thoughts in the pure text was
because I could not trust other software. And now it seems
that I know how to write the software as well. So the more I know
about wordpress and webware the more likely I am to leave the plain
text behind in favor of database storage.
This offers the benefits of organization which is quickly
becoming more important as now I have data to examine.
The reviews I carry out often remind me of where I left off
and allow me to re-evaluate whether I'll come back to those
ideas or not.
My progress on the ray tracing front has been steady.
However, my note taking is more lax. I have yet to create
a formalized central location for the notes I'm taking down
on my progress.
I contemplate creating a page on this site detailing out
all the information. That might be helpful for a few people.
I may have to resolve to write a page on each no topic idea
along with my sample images I render for that concept.
At least then I could see my progress my clearly.
Until then, I post pretty pictures of the stuff I've managed
thus far.
Note taking sounds like a mental obsession
