Why not bring back a souvenir?

Technology != Computers

If it wasn't for that shower that turned into a slimy bath... today would have
been the greatest day I've had in a long time.
And I mean that because of the interaction I've gotten to have during it.

Though I was distracted at work everything went fairly fast.
I have to pull through with some fixes and I feel bad that I'm not
able to work on certain stepper motor controls tonight.
That's making me feel behind. And frustrated but there's not much I
can do besides handle my job and cut out that time when I can.

Out of nowhere I get this message from Shirine. An old friend
from the CCAT days. I have to say she's got that aurora of educated,
artist with a teacher bent. She looks the part I think. And we enjoyed
our chat together bouncing ideas off one another and generally creating
more from the interaction we had than we could have done individually.
I believe I touched a nerve on some issues but I think it gave her
a lot to think over later.

"What makes you think that a computer is technology, while a violin isn't?"
I'm paraphrasing Neil Gershenfeld's book "When Things Start to Think"
It's a book that has changed my mind about technology forever.

People need to get away from the "Technology means computers" syndrome.
Technology is technique. A way of doing things. And it's been a love
hate relationship ever since fire. But the fact is that sociopolitically
and aggregately it forms a force that can not be stopped.

Technology will run its course.
Whether that turns out well or ill is left to be decided.
But in the mean time, I spend a deal of my time learning what
can be done. If I believe in the unstoppable shifts that await us
I'd rather wield the technological powers than ignore and wish them
way. Neo Luddism

The time flew and I even shook hands with the proud owner of "Blondies"
the new name of the new place that displaced the East Side Deli.
The entire place has a new feel and a new life. It made me take pause
and realize how much style mattered all over again.

Johanna Nagan is a hero in my eyes. I highly respect anyone with the
guts to open a business with a front door. My aims are more gradual
and cautious in my own endeavors. But I leap at the opportunity to learn
from her experiences by offering my video skills in exchange for a regaling
of story.

Upon leaving the place, I received an image via my phone.
I think clicking on that open tag is costing some ungodly amount
of monetary denomination. So, I decided to swing by and visit the Twins
for my hunch was that they were home.

It was much more enjoyable to chat than it has been in
the past. My feel was now that I had someone to look forward
to seeing it wasn't so bad to hear about all their social
hills and valley's. I stood a bit taller in front of my Ex. for
such a reason.

And I rode home in the chilling moonlight air.
All the while enjoying the fact that I would come home
to someone important. Someone not to far away but far away
enough to long for.

...
And now if that shower-that-turned-into-a-horrible bath hadn't
ruined my mood this would be a very happy signing off.

People may notice the lack of pictures on this post.
I'm tired of fighting with people whom keep telling
me they don't want their picture taken.
While my stance is that I obey their wishes.
I'm always disappointed at their attitude towards
the issue. And so I'm tired of trying and I haven't
been.
